If you wish to register a car in order to legally drive it, you have to show proof of current insurance on it.

Thus, the Obamacare mandate is nothing new or unusual. Why should my taxes pay for your trip to the ER, which you made because you were too lazy/cheap to properly insure your health ?

No. Constant socialistic policy based responsibly on the net income of a country is the best economic strategy.

If you privatized the military every 20 years, you would risk a civil war every 20 years. And for what reason? :P
You would also have sudden spikes in death, drops in education and crumbling infrastructure that is ignored until the next bout of 'socialism'.

It would cost far more to fix, reinstate & repair everything, then to maintain it.

The central planning department (CPD) told the factories what to make, even if it didn't 'sell'.Those inventories were used as assets when the factory needed more raw materials. The inventories of unsold goods used as 'assets' when borrowing to buy more raw materials continued until the manufacturing segment could NOT borrow any more money to buy raw materials, so the government just printed more money. The inflationary cycles went on until the supplier countries would no longer SELL the raw materials to the USSR and the currency was worthless there was so much of it.
